PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2014 (Montreal): Perkins started all 21 of his appearances, logging 1,890 minutes for the Impact and recording five clean sheets. He finished the season with a 1.67 goals against average and 4-12-5 record, making 66 saves for a Montreal side that finished last in MLS with 28 points.

2013 (Montreal): Perkins set a new career highs with 33 appearances, 33 starts and 2,970 minutes. He tied Scott Garlick for ninth place in MLS history with 48 career shutouts against New England (September 7). He ranked first in MLS with 109 saves and tied for second with 14 wins. In the postseason, Perkins started the Eastern Conference Knockout Round match against Houston. His accolades include the MLS Save of the Week award in Week 3 against Toronto and a six-time selection by the Impact fans as the Videotron Player of the Game. He won the Amway Canadian Championship and was a reserve for the CONCACAF Champions League tournament.

2012 (Montreal/Portland): Perkins set a then-personal best with 31 games played and starts, totaling 2,767 minutes. With Portland, Perkins recorded five wins and three shutouts in 22 starts and 1,957 minutes. He earned his 50th career win against Kansas City (April 21). His streak of 3,307 straight minutes in goal ended against Montreal (April 28). Perkins set a club-record streak of 377 minutes without allowing a goal against Chicago (May 20). He wore the captain’s armband for the first time against FC Dallas (July 21), and won the MLS Save of the Week against Vancouver (Week 12) and New England (Week 23). On August 7, Perkins was acquired by Montreal from Portland for Donovan Ricketts. With Montreal, Perkins recorded three wins and four shutouts in nine starts. In addition, he started the international match against Bologna F.C. during the postseason tour in Italy.

2011 (Portland): Perkins started 29 matches and recorded an MLS career-high nine shutouts, which was tied for third in the league. He won MLSsoccer.com’s Save of the Week on four occasions: Week 10, Week 17, Week 18, and Week 28. Despite missing the first games of the season with a knee injury, Perkins was named by fans as the Timbers’ Supporters Player of the Year.

2010 (D.C. United): Perkins was re-acquired by D.C. United on January 13, after the club traded midfielder Fred and allocation money to Philadelphia Union for the top spot in the player allocation order. He started in 22 games, recording five shutouts and posting a 1.68 goals-against average. Perkins was traded to Portland following the season on December 17 for goalkeeper Steve Cronin and allocation money.

2009 (Vålerenga): Perkins started in 27 matches in his second season in the Tippeligaen, plus two UEFA qualification matches.

2008 (Vålerenga): In his first season with the Norwegian side, Perkins helped the club win its first Norwegian Cup title in six years at the first division, which resulted in a UEFA Cup qualification.

2007 (D.C. United): Perkins led MLS in wins for a second straight season, with a record of 17-6-7, en route to the club’s fourth Supporters’ Shield. His 1.10 goals-against average, 117 saves, eight shutouts, and 2,610 minutes ranked in the top five in the league. He was named MLS Player of the Month in August, in which he compiled a 5-0 record and 0.20 GAA. In the postseason, Perkins started two matches, plus four North American SuperLiga games.

2006 (D.C. United): Named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year after leading MLS with 15 wins. He was also among the league leaders with a 1.13 GAA, eight shutouts, and 2,700 minutes in 30 games. He owned three of the season’s longest shutout streaks—he held opposing teams scoreless for stretches of 338, 247, and 243 minutes. In Week 13, he was named MLS Player of the Week, and helped keep a clean sheet against Chelsea F.C. in his first All-Star game. In addition, Perkins started three postseason matches.

2005 (D.C. United): Perkins made two starts, finishing with a 1-1 record and allowing two goals. He led the D.C. United reserve team to the MLS Reserve League championship, posting a record of 8-3-0.

2004 (D.C. United): As an undrafted rookie, Perkins was signed to a developmental contract before earning a spot on the senior roster later in the season. He helped the club win its first road win of the year in only his second match of the season against New England (May 29). He finished the campaign with 16 appearances, including three shutouts and a 1.63 average.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Perkins made his international debut with the United States Men’s National Team on January 29, 2009, in a 3-2 against Sweden. In total, Perkins has made six appearances, helping the team reach the finals of the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

Perkins began his college career at the University of South Florida, before transferring to the University of Evansville in 2003 before his senior season. For the Purple Aces, Perkins played in every minute of the match, allowing just 21 goals in 19 matches while compiling a 1.09 goals-against average.

PERSONAL

Perkins enjoys cooking, specializing in Southern American dishes. He’s the son of Steven and Debra Perkins. He and his wife, Elizabeth, have two sons, Jackson and Colton. His brother, Travis, played in the PGA.
